My Story

I am not a doctor or specialist. He Can Control It Then is a mothers autobiographical journey of living with a child with ADHD. When I started writing it was nothing more than my own ramblings, to work through my life and find understanding. By doing so, I ended up on a journey which I imagine may be useful to others.

It's written in a down to earth non clinical style, which is easy to understand by all. Giving the reader a chance to understand the ADHD world, from a parent's perception.
Confessions of an ADHD Child's Parent is a book for parents, teachers, carers, or grandparents.
As a teenager, I was flighty. I loved reading and writing, wanted to do well at school; however, I struggled with my concentration and memory. I’m not naturally gifted when it comes to intelligence, so I had to work hard for all my grades. I’ve never been a materialistic person, and I wasn’t one for games consoles or computers at a young age. When the computer age hit I was in my teens and my natural stubbornness made me reluctant to learn how to use one. By eighteen I was working three jobs: a secretary, a check out girl, and I did the odd bar shift as and when I could fit it in. All this, not to mention studying. I continued working up until a few years ago. The jobs varied, from working in pub kitchens, administrative work, shop work, cleaning, to pig farming!
I’ve always been the sort of person that if someone says I can’t do something, I’ll do my utmost to prove them wrong.  So when my head told me that I couldn't write a book, I set out to prove it wrong!

Reviews

As a mother of a child with ADHD, I was amazed at how this book affected me. The loneliness that comes with having a child with this disorder seemed to evaporate. I wasn't alone. I felt every word and every emotion. This book gave me strength where I had none. If you wish to understand the complexities of caring for these special children. THIS is the book, I recommend, not only for parents or teachers but also for general practitioners.
